Galletti solutions are based on a fundamental principle: reducing polluting emissions. This commitment includes direct emissions caused by greenhouse gases, as well as indirect emissions produced by generating the electricity needed to operate heat pumps. 

This process led to the creation of PLN, Galletti's new range of monobloc chillers and heat pumps for outdoor installation. Designed with cutting-edge multi-scroll solutions in the 50 to 150 kW power range, they stand out for their use of the natural refrigerant R290 (propane).

With a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of just 3, among the lowest on the market, PLN complies with the strict F-GAS regulations, actively contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions

Technical characteristics

PLN is Galletti's new range of air-cooled monobloc chillers and heat pumps for outdoor installation, equipped with multi-scroll solutions and featuring refrigerant R290. R290 (propane) is a natural refrigerant with a GWP of just 3, one of the lowest on the market. This GWP value ensures that the PLN range complies with the gradual reduction in greenhouse gas emissions mandated by F-GAS regulations.

Additionally, using small-diameter finned coils (microchannels) for refrigerant flow decreases the required refrigerant charge by more than 50% compared to other products with similar power but standard technology.

The range consists of 7 models with cooling capacities ranging from 50 to 150 kW, available in cooling-only or reversible heat pump versions. Using solutions with multiple compressors on the same circuit allows for optimized performance during partial-load operation, in addition to adjusting the power output to the actual thermal load.
This makes it possible to achieve some of the highest seasonal efficiency ratings on the HVAC market:  SCOP up to 4.00 and SEER up to 5.00.

The use of top-quality, state-of-the-art components in the cooling, hydraulic, and electrical systems makes PLN chillers state-of-the-art in terms of efficiency, reliability, and operating limits. In fact, they are guaranteed to produce water from -10°C to 75°C and operate at full load when the outdoor air temperature ranges from -20°C to 48°C. Even at an outdoor air temperature of -20°C, it is still possible to produce hot water at 45°C.

This range offers high acoustic and hydraulic configurability. It has a wide range of accessories designed to meet installation requirements in limited spaces. It is possible to include a buffer tank and up to two hydraulic pumps on the unit, as well as a flow meter for continuous monitoring of the power produced, without increasing its dimensions.

The advanced controller, which is standard across the entire range, allows continuous monitoring of operating parameters, advanced adjustment and connectivity logics, and the management of advanced procedures to secure the unit in the event of refrigerant leakage (A3).

The scroll-type compressors designed to work with R290, which can be sound insulated, include internal thermal protection of the windings and are installed on special anti-vibration supports.

The scroll-type compressors are equipped with an IDV valve. IDV technology allows the compressor to avoid losses due to over-compression and the extra work the motor has to do at partial load, thus saving energy and improving seasonal and partial-load efficiency from 3% to 10%.

Microchannel technology and the meticulous thermodynamic study carried out ensure a total refrigerant charge that is at least 40% lower than comparable chillers with traditional condensing coils. This is an outstanding achievement that is consistent with Galletti's decision to produce Advanced Design solutions with extremely low TEWI to reduce environmental impact in the HVAC sector.
