Galletti presents the new range of thermal storage tanks for the production of domestic hot water, fruit of a co-operation with Cordivari, that was specifically conceived for pairing with heat pumps. This range of products combines Galletti’s solid experience in the operation of heat pumps and in the logics for managing multi-purpose systems with Cordivari’s experience in developing tanks. Galletti decided to give priority to the thermal storage tank logic (storage of technical water in the tank) over the boiler logic (storage of domestic hot water). In this manner when storing technical water, it is not necessary to include the anti-Legionella cycle, which is normally executed by means of a thermal shock (which implies a loss in the system’s efficiency) or a chemical treatment. The range consists of two product lines. The first product line includes thermal storage tanks with a stainless steel coil for the immediate production of domestic hot water. The second product line consists of thermal storage tanks combined with an external plate exchanger for the immediate production of domestic hot water. To develop a product that perfectly meets the needs of multi-purpose systems combined with heat pumps, Galletti and Cordivari made a very thorough study of exchange surfaces and stratification. The result is a range of tanks that, in terms of coils and plate heat exchangers, possess increased exchange surfaces that are on average much larger than those of the conventional thermal accumulators available on the market. Also the (patented) labyrinth diffuser has been included as a standard feature on all the models of the range, which guarantees the best stratification in every situation, including transients, that often can compromise the performance of the storage. All the models of the range are available in the basic version and in the version with two additional coils that is to be integrated with a solar system and for high-temperature source. With the goal of achieving continuously better energy efficiency from its systems, Galletti does not use heating elements inside its heat pumps or inside the tanks as a supplement to the unit. The heating elements can be used on Galletti’s thermal storage tanks only as a backup in case the heat pump is temporarily stopped.
